MBC Global President meets with
Michigan Governor
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich, (March 13, 2008) - Michigan Governor, Jennifer
Granholm, recently asked MBC Global President Rick Weaver to sit on a panel
of business owners to discuss the state’s budget, the state’s current business
environment, and the future of commerce in Michigan.
Although some of the business owners were pessimistic about the economy,
Weaver was extremely optimistic. He pointed out that MBC Global was
growing through recognition of the role Michigan plays in the global economy.
She was impressed by the opportunities uncovered in a recent trip the
organization made to Ghana. During the trip MBC Global’s emissary, Joseph P.
Cool, found opportunities to sell Michigan products and services. This will
relate to jobs in the state.
The governor also asked Weaver about how the state could help businesses
better recruit employees through the Michigan Talent Bank, a job posting
website operated by Michigan Works, an agency working with employees in
transition from job to job or seeking a new career. Weaver pointed out the
importance and growth of commission-only jobs.
