Ghanaian comes to Pontiac
for American Dream

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich, USA (January 21, 2008). Kofi Annorh’s journey from Ghana to Pontiac,
Michigan, in 2001 to find the American Dream was one filled with faith, hope, and a few miracles.  As
a young boy in Ghana he was inspired by his American teachers and knew that someday he had to see
the nation that produced these great educators.

His life in Ghana had been exciting. With heritage in the Council of Chiefs, an important government body, he dined with
presidents and dignitaries from all over the world, including Bill Clinton and Jesse Jackson.

In Ghana he developed a deep Christian faith and credits God for his survival following an ambush in Sierra-Leone. He
spent 7 days in the bush being hunted by militias. “They wanted to kill me,” he recalls, “but God hid me from them.” He
became a popular figure, well-known for burning down a temple to false idols in rural Ghana.

Yet his fame did not diminish his childhood desire to see what the American Dream was all about.
Off to America

When the time had come to fulfill his wishes, he headed to New York. A series of events would lead him to Pontiac. Some
may say these were coincidences, but to this deeply religious man they were the hand of God guiding him to carry out the
purpose of his life. This included walking up to a window at the bus depot to find a new home. Based on the time of day
and amount of money he had, the bus to Pontiac was the only choice left for the day.

He found a job at a gas station only to be confronted with a gunman a short time later.

“I grabbed the gun and told him he was not the one that would kill me,” Kofi recalls with a glimmer in his eye reflecting
appreciation for Devine intervention.

Using his education from the University of Ghana’s Institute of Professional Studies, Kofi is developing a cleaning business,
“Divine Breeze”. He has been building the business as money permits him to purchase cleaning equipment and materials and
as networking has allowed him to find clients.

He has also been helped by the expertise of his business mentor, Joseph P. Cool of
Cool and Associates and his relationship
with MBC Global (
mbcglobal.org).

The transition

One of his biggest challenges was overcoming the cultural differences between Ghana and America. “People have a
misconception of outsiders, especially Africans,” says Annorh. He points out Americans are surprised by his knowledge
and education.

“Color has not been a barrier to me,” he adds with his ever present religious conviction, “Christian beliefs help me
tremendously in my personal and business life.”

The transition to America was easier because of his servant attitude, his innate culture of respect for others, and his
mindset of the preeminence of the Word of God.
Goals

Today Kofi sees business growing and is seeking new business through networking with church members, friends, and
business networking. His residential and commercial cleaning business will also grow if he is successful at gaining
government contracts.

He has not forgotten his native Ghana. “I’m looking for opportunities that can revolutionize the City of Pontiac through
connections in Africa and America,” he says.

“The Lord has truly blessed me,” concludes Kofi, “I am a blessed man in Pontiac.”
